International films recorded on phones in competition and a chance to meet directors and create your own over the weekend.

THE FIFTH Festival Pocket Films is under way in Paris.

It is hosted by the Forum des Images on Rue du Cinéma in the capital’s new cinema district and runs until June 14.

This year more than 800 films were submitted into the competition with 15 selected to go before the festival’s jury for a vote on June 14.

Short films have been submitted from the UK, Poland, Italy, Palestine and the USA as well as France. The longest is 15 minutes but most run under the five minutes mark.

Alongside the Prix du Jury, you can vote for the Prix du Public via the site www.sfrjeunestalents.fr

Theatre director Pippo Delbono, sculptor Richard Texier and film directors Joseph Morder, Lech Kowalski and Olivier Ducastel have created their own pocket films for the occasion and will be discussing them on various days of the festival.

There are also special showings including Ma Cam à Moi created by French MPs from all parties going about their daily business.

Other screenings include foreign film showings, full-length features, a horror night, music events and a series of nature films entitled Green Porno II where director Isabella Rossellini highlights mating pratices of various marine animals from whales to limpets.
