More poison pen letters for MPs
Still no suspects as President Sarkozy and UMP Nord deputy Christian Vanneste receive further threats with bullets
MORE LETTERS containing bullets and threatening notes have been sent to politicians.
President Sarkozy and UMP deputy of the Nord Christian Vanneste yesterday received threatening letters accompanied by revolver bullets.
The letter to Sarkozy was signed “cellule 34” – 34 being the department number of the Hérault, from where previous threats were posted to other leading political figures mayor of Bordeaux Alain Juppé and Justice Minister Rachida Dati.

However authorities have not yet been able to confirm if the latest letter to Sarkozy, who has been targeted before, was in fact posted in the department and no further details of what it contained have so far been revealed.
Previous letters have included statements such as: “You think you can do what you like with our lives, well, you’re wrong, it’s us who can do what we like with yours, and those of your families and friends” or “purveyors of liberty-killing laws… you are living on borrowed time.”
The letter which Mr Vanneste received yesterday purported to be from a group proclaiming itself the “1,000 combattants, toutes cellules” and was posted in the Hérault.
According to press information, the terms “cellule 34” and “1000 combattants, toutes cellules” have already appeared in the threats sent last month.
An initial inquiry was opened at the beginning of March. Thirteen searches were carried out in Montpellier and surrounding areas on April 7 however no arrests were made.
