A member of the British military rugby team was found dead at the bottom of a cliff in Dinard, Brittany, on Tuesday morning, August 29.
The body has been identified by two of the team’s coaches.
An autopsy is being carried out to determine the cause of death with the Saint-Malo chief prosecutor pointing towards an accidental fall as an early theory.
The man’s disappearance had been communicated to police shortly before his body was found at 10:30 on Tuesday.
The British team was staying in Dinard for the Military Rugby World Cup, as it unfolds in multiple small towns across Brittany from August 16 to September 10.
As of today Wednesday, August 30, neither the team nor the competition organisers have issued a statement about the death or identified the player.

The British had just beaten Spain in their last game of the group stage, 128 to 3. They were due to face Fiji in the semi-finals on September 3.
