Mystery of fortune in sewers solved
Police trace torn up €60,000 flushed down the toilet to a depressed man in Rodez.
Police investigating how hundreds of torn up €50 notes came to block a sewer pipe have found the man responsible.
After finding firstly that the money, worth around €60,000, was real and secondly, not linked to any robberies or break-ins, officers traced it to a nearby resident in Rodez.
The torn up notes were discovered by a service team from Veolia who were called out to unblock a sewer pipe.
The man responsible has been described as ‘psychologically fragile’ had torn up and flushed the €60,000 in his appartment which he shares with his mother.
He has not been charged with any offence.
