New French website for UK licence swaps

No more postal applications must be sent to the CERT de Nantes, at the Loire-Atlantique prefecture – exchanges must now only be applied for via the new online process.

To do so you should visit https://permisdeconduire.ants.gouv.fr/ and click demander un permis de conduire. You will either need to already have a FranceConnect account (which enables you to access several public service sites with the same details), or to create an account on the ANTS site.

This new online process is only for people with ‘European’ licences, which includes British ones during the Brexit transition period.

The administrator of the Applying for a French Driving Licence Facebook group, Kim Cranstoun, said since it is based on the same system as for applying for a French licence, or renewing one, it appears to be "relatively easy" to use.
