No Formula 1 in France in 2010

Future of French Grand Prix thrown into doubt as backers pull out of Disneyland Paris plan.

A NEW Formula 1 track at Euro Disney will not be built, leaving the future of the sport in France in doubt.

The track was the most likely candidate to host the 2010 French Grand Prix, following the cancellation of next year’s event.

Lagardère Sports, who were working with Euro Disney to build a new €60 million track near the Paris resort, have announced they are pulling out after failing to reach an agreement with all the parties concerned.

The Euro Disney track was seen as the most likely candidate to succeed the Magny-Cours circuit which was criticised by F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone for its poor facilities.

Residents of Val-d’Europe near the site of the proposed track protested against the plan and the noise that the F1 circuit would cause.

A statement by Lagardère Sports said: “In spite of the quality of our project, the two partners involved and the support of Bernie Ecclestone it has been impossible to find an agreement with all the parties whose support is indispensible to allow the project to become viable.”
