No-puncture tyre boosts sustainability
Michelin has made a puncture-proof and zero-maintenance tyre that uses 3D-printed composite materials to improve sustainability and easier recycling.
Called Uptis, the tyre is being tested on Chevrolet Bolt cars in the US but promises to save 200million punctured tyres a year globally from the scrapheap, reducing pollution and waste.
France throws out 50million tyres a year but they are difficult to recycle, with just 10% recycled and many dumped in the country.
