Noah stays top in popularity poll

Singer is France's most popular person for ninth year running, followed by Omar Sy and Jean Dujardin

SINGER, activist and former tennis player Yannick Noah has been named the most popular person in France for the ninth year running.

Actors and comedians make up the bulk of the top 10, with Intouchables star Omar Sy in second place and Jean Dujardin, who became a worldwide celebrity following the success of The Artist, in third.

Gad Elmaleh came fourth and stand-up comedian and actor Jamel Debbouze seventh. Footballer Zinedine Zidane was fifth in the annual top 50 ranking, based on the Ifop poll for the Journal du Dimanche.

François Hollande takes 15th place - better than the 25th position that Nicolas Sarkozy occupied in his election year.
