Noir Désir make internet comeback
First songs since release of singer Bertrand Cantat who was imprisoned in 2003 for killing his girlfriend.
ROCK band Noir Désir, whose singer Bertrand Cantat was recently released from prison where he was serving a sentence for killing his girlfriend, have released two new songs online.
The songs mark the first moves in a comeback for the band, which was hinted at by drummer Denis Barthe in May.
Cantant was jailed in Lithuania in 2003 for killing his girlfriend actress Marie Trintignant during a row in a hotel room.
He was moved to serve out his sentence in a prison near Muret in September 2004 and was released in October 2007 after serving more than half of the eight year term.
The tracks called Gagnants/Perdants and Le Temps des Cerises can be downloaded free from the band’s website www.noirdez.com.
Noir Désir’s last album Des Visages, des Figures was released in 2001 and their last concert in December 2002.
The group has been on hold since Cantant’s imprisonment.
