Orange scam doing rounds
A reader has contacted Connexion about a scam doing the rounds in France.
This concerns a 'phishing' email purporting to be from telecoms giant Orange which claims that a recent automatic payment has failed and urges the recipient to click on a link to 'access their client space'.
The email carries the Orange logo and, other than the warning about the supposed payment failure, is a word-for-word copy of a standard monthly invoice advice. However, the email address from which the email was sent was not the usual one, which aroused the reader's suspicions.
Checking his bank statement, the reader found that the payment had left his account as normal.
