Pass the parcel: festive blame game
How many readers were left disappointed by the non-arrival of Christmas parcels?
HOW many readers were left disappointed by the non-arrival of Christmas parcels?
We are still awaiting four packages: two sent well before the postal deadline (combined value about £100), and two sent just before Christmas, one valued approximately £150 and another £400.
None was sent by tracking – all by regular post, Royal Mail. I can forgive members of our family for believing that the Royal Mail service is reliable (old beliefs die hard), but the £100 and the £400 packages were sent by commercial firms without any kind of security.
I am sure Royal Mail will say “not our fault, it’s France” and La Poste will say: “Not our fault, it’s UK”.
I can only warn everyone to ensure parcels from the UK are sent by Air Sure or with tracking. We have been patient, allowing for the weather, but now we believe theft is involved.
Two parcels sent by Amazon just before Christmas arrived a few days later: If they can do it, so should everyone else.
