Passengers injured in collision
Thirteen passengers were injured after train carriages were derailed near Limoges because of a hay trailer on the track
THREE train carriages were derailed and 13 passengers were injured after a farm trailer of hay fell onto the tracks near Limoges.
Out of 450 passengers travelling from Paris to Cahors, most were unharmed, but a 42-year-old man is still in intensive care, after needing emergency surgery for multiple injuries. A 48-year-old woman whose life was also in danger has now been stabilised.
The accident has been attributed to a trailer that was being loaded with hay nearby and fell on to the tracks. The train is said to have hit it at a 68mph.
More than 100 railway workers spent the night repairing the damage to the tracks and the owner of the trailer has since been arrested.
