Patients condemn high dentist costs
Nine out of ten people say the cost of dental treatment is too high, in poll examining public attitude to health fees
DENTISTS in France charge patients far too much for treatment, according to the results of a new poll.
A survey by top-up health insurer Pasteur Mutualité, published in Le Parisien, found 88% of people believed dentists' fees were overpriced.
Dentists came top of the list of medical specialists who were considered to represent the worst value for money.
Overall, 70% of the 1,000 respondents said the fees charged by specialist consultants were "too high".
Some 38% said they had changed their mind about buying a medicine based on its price, choosing generic non-branded products or those that are better reimbursed by the Assurance Maladie.
