Pickpocket, 89, arrested on train

Police say octogenarian was “caught red-handed” trying to steal money from a bag on TGV between Paris and Nantes

THERE is no age limit to crime, it would appear, after an 89-year-old pickpocket was arrested for theft aboard a TGV between Paris and Nantes.

The octogenarian was reportedly caught in the act of trying to dip his hand into the bag of a fellow passenger in search of a wallet or purse.

He was arrested when the train pulled in at Angers, according to regional newspaper Courrier de l'Ouest.

Police said he has been arrested 37 times in connection with similar crimes aboard trains.

They said he was due before court in Angers soon.
