A popular mountain gîte in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence is going on the market for €350,000, offering a rare opportunity to take over a fully functioning hospitality business in the French Alps.

The property is located in Méolans-Revel, at around 1,100 metres above sea level. The business has become popular with hikers and cycling groups exploring the surrounding trails and natural sites.

It has been run for the past six years by a couple who operate it as a traditional, family-run mountain stopover.

The gîte operates in a communal way, guests are welcomed like house visitors, meals are cooked on-site, and evenings are often shared around large tables, encouraging conversation between hikers, cyclists and repeat visitors.

However, the owners now have to step away due to health reasons. “It has been a beautiful project, this gîte,” the owner told TF1.

It is now part of the TF1 “SOS Villages” initiative meant to promote rural businesses looking for new owners and to keep essential local services alive in small communities.

The property itself is an 18th-century building of around 440m², offering 10 guest bedrooms, communal dining areas, a semi-professional kitchen, a private owners’ apartment, and capacity for around 26 guests.

It also features a 600m² terrace and garden, as well as two private parking areas.

Although ownership is set to change, the business remains active, with bookings already in place for the coming months.
