Porn sites blocked on MPs' computers
Every website visited by MPs and their staff will be logged and the records kept for 24 hours
MPs in the French national assembly have been told that pornographic websites are now blocked on their office computers.
Parliament has implemented a new web filtering system that aims to block any illicit material and sites that pose a security threat to the network.
Every website visited by MPs and their staff will be logged - and the records kept for 24 hours.
The National Assembly told MPs in a letter: "The filtering system aims to prevent any connection to a pornographic site as well as sites presenting a virus risk."
The porn ban comes as a new security law , Loppsi 2, makes its way through parliament.
Already passed by the National Assembly, it introduces tougher measures on internet security and access to dangerous and illegal websites.
According to Backchich.info, the firewall is not proving very effective - a number of porn sites have slipped through the net while political campaign sites such as www.anticolonial.net are blocked.
