Radio waves: no direct health risk
French health body says no evidence of direct link between mobile phones and wireless devices, but urges caution
THERE is no danger from wireless devices, but people should limit their exposure, concludes a report by the French health body Anses.
Anses based its conclusions on a summary of 300 scientific studies made around the world.
It said that there was no scientific evidence to show a direct link between the radio waves of mobile phones, wi-fi or other wireless connections that had any adverse impact on health.
Anses added however that recent reports did indicate different “biological effects” on humans and animals.
It said such “biological effects” were changes in the body that did not amount to being termed diseases or similar.
Areas of concern include sleep disruption, male fertility and cognitive performance.
The report also notes studies that indicate a possible higher risk of brain tumours among long-term intensive users of mobile phones.
