Rail strike begins Tuesday evening
Disruption expected in different areas in the country as unions call national strike in protest at Brussels reforms
A NATIONAL rail strike begins from this evening at 19.00.
Unions have called the stoppage in protest at European reforms to privatise rail transport in member states from 2019.
It will last until the morning of October 10, with delays expected either side.
The last national strike, on June 13, saw around 70% of drivers and conductors taking part.
TGV services are not expected to be affected, nor will Eurostar, Thalys and Lyria international services. However the Talgo service to Spain will not run.
Intercités services will run three out of four trains, but with the north being less affected than the south.
No night trains will be running.
For disruption to local TER services see www.ter-sncf.com
In Paris, the RER is expected to run normally, except RER C which will run seven trains in 10. For more information see www.transilien.com
