Rescue for men who parked in sea
They planned to sleep in their car after a night clubbing, but had left it in a tidal zone
TWO young men who were sleeping off a night out clubbing, in their car were woken up by the freezing waters of the Atlantic swirling around them.
The two men from Lesneven in Brittany had parked near the nightclub where they had spent the evening, but also in a section of the port of Plouguerneau that was subject to tides.
Once woken by the chilly November waves lapping around them, the men found they could not open the car doors against the weight of the water.
They called the emergency services, who rescued them from the car at 5.00 and treated them for a mild case of hypothermia.
A spokesman for the emergency services commented that one of the men who was still drunk spent a lot of time insulting various staff, but neither were prosecuted as they had not been driving the vehicle while drunk.
