Rivals queens crowned in France
Beauty pageant split results in Miss Provence and Miss Bretagne being crowned on same weekend.
TWO BEAUTY queens have been crowned in France this weekend as rival pageants went head to head.
Miss France, the traditional competition now owned by Endemol, crowned Miss Bretagne on TF1; however the competition's long-established organiser, Geneviève de Fontenay, was nowhere to be seen in the show.
Fontenay was busy hosting her new rival Miss Nationale competition, crowning Miss Provence on a show broadcast online on Dailymotion.com
The dame au chapeau regularly criticised Endemol even after she sold the competition to the TV production company while remaining involved in its organisation.
Recent rows over the direction led to a split, with Endemol taking Fontenay to court claiming she had no right to set up a rival competition.
After a court ruled in her favour, Fontenay's competition went ahead at the weekend with plenty of support from her contestants, who said that that hers was the only Miss France in which to be competing.
