Ryanair website shuts for upgrade
Budget airline warns passengers to make sure they check-in online before shutdown
PASSENGERS travelling with Ryanair have been warned to check-in online before 18.00 on Friday as the budget airline is shutting its website for a day this weekend for an upgrade.
No flights will be affected by the closure, which sees www.ryanair.com closed from 22.00 on May 18 until midnight on Saturday May 19.
Online check-in will be closed from 16.00 on May 18 until Sunday May 20 at noon; bookings and flight changes will be unavailable from 22.00 on May 18 until 22.00 the next day.
The changes will improve site speed and allow new text message alerts on flight problems.
Ryanair's Stephen McNamara said: "From Sunday, Ryanair passengers will enjoy even faster access to our lowest fares and our guaranteed lowest hotel prices after the Ryanair.com website has been upgraded.
"Our upgraded site will improve performance, and allow us to introduce a new SMS text alert system which will deliver real time info to passenger during flight delays of over two hours and during periods of mass disruption, such as adverse weather, air traffic control strikes or airspace closures.”
He said the website's Manage my Booking service would be unavailable during the shutdown, so passengers travelling this weekend should check in beforehand and print out boarding passes.
