Sarkozy ratings continue to fall
Nicolas Sarkozy’s ratings continue to tumble despite him appearing live on television to be quizzed by journalists
President Nicolas Sarkozy’s confidence ratings continued to tumble despite him appearing live on television to be quizzed by journalists.
His poll ratings before the television interview were the worst since he took office this time last year – but they have dipped a further two points according to a SCA poll conducted on April 29 and 30 and released on May 2.
The results show that only 37% of those asked “have confidence” in the President, while 57% said they had no confidence in him at all. This figure was 54% at the beginning of April.
Prime Minister François Fillon polled a higher rating with 42% “having confidence” against 51% having none.
Sarkozy was elected in May 2007. His popularity has plummeted because of factors like his divorce, his marriage to pop singer Carla Bruni and what is seen as a flashy “bling-bling” image.
