Scotland is France No1 for imports

FRANCE may have some of the world’s finest gourmet produce, but Scotland was No1 supplier of food imports last year, ahead of Ireland, Spain, Germany and Italy.

Fish was Scotland’s top food export, followed by fruit and vegetables, with £276m worth of products arriving in France.

Whisky imports soared to £446m, making France second only to the US; but France is world No1 by volume, drinking more than anyone else, with William Peel the top buy.
