Signs of hope in latest Covid-19 figures in France

As of last night, French hospitals had registered the lowest number of deaths (357) over a 24-hour period since last Tuesday (84 down on the previous day) with the downward trend shown clearly on the graph published at this link, which uses official data.

Almost 7,000 patients out of 28,892 who are in hospital due to the virus are currently in intensive care, however the number of new admissions to intensive care per day is dropping, in another positive sign that the situation may be reaching a plateau.

The government says there were 140 new admissions between Saturday and Sunday nights, however this is progressively going down.

Even so, the Direction Générale de la Santé says there is no room for complacency, and the signs show the disease continues to hit the country hard.
