Six departments on weather alert
Paris traffic and airlines return to normal but delays on Eurostar.
SIX departments in the north of the country remain under an orange alert from Météo France this morning as bad weather continues.
The Côtes-d'Armor, Finistère and the Manche are still under on alert for snow and black ice, while in the Gard, Hérault and the Ardèche it is for heavy rainfall.
The rain is expected to ease off during the day but will continue into the evening.
Up to 200 millimetres of rain is expected around the lower areas of the Cevennes in the next few hours.
Yesterday 34 departments were under orange alert, mainly because of the risks of black ice on the roads.
The bad weather has also brought disruption to Eurostar services after heavy snowfall in the UK. Passengers are warned to expect delays (see www.eurostar.com.)
Anybody who would like to delay a journey planned for today can exchange their tickets without incurring any extra charges at Eurostar terminals within 60 days, for travel within the next 120 days.
Alternatively passengers can call 08 92 35 35 39 (0,34 euro/minute).
Flights and traffic in Paris were also disrupted yesterday however the situation was back to normal yesterday evening.
