Snow affecting weekend getaway
Speed restrictions on rail network and snow on roads mean this weekend will be a difficult one for travelling
ROAD, rail and air delays are likely this weekend as snow affects the start of the Christmas holiday getaway.
Météo France currently has 20 departments in the north, east and centre of France on alert. Most of the country will see some snow in the coming days, with Saturday forecast to be the worst day.
Traffic monitor Bison Futé is expecting difficult conditions on Friday and Saturday.
It recommends carrying snow tyres and chains, as well as warm clothing, water and food in case of a breakdown.
The traffic radio network, available along most motorways on 107.7FM, will provide updates.
The SNCF says speed restrictions will be in place on parts of the rail network this weekend, especially in the east, because of the adverse weather. Check InfoLignes.com for the latest.
Aéroports de Paris says it is monitoring the situation and passengers should check online for news about their flight.
