SpeedFerries in administration

Passengers with tickets should keep hold of them and check the website.

BOULOGNE to Dover ferry company SpeedFerries has gone into administration, with all crossings until November 18 cancelled.

A spokeswoman for administrators Ernst & Young said customers with pre-booked tickets should hold onto them and wait for further information which will be posted on the company website www.speedferries.com

A statement by Ernst & Young said: “Speedferries Limited operates in a highly competitive industry and has been affected by a general downturn in the industry related to a reduction in customer travel over recent months and rising fuel costs.

"The administrators are now exploring the option of selling the business as a going concern.”

SpeedFerries' only ferry SpeedOne was seized by Boulogne port authorities on November 6 after a row over unpaid port fees and taxes.
