Storm warning for south-west
Heavy rain, strong winds and lightning forecast from about 4pm on Monday
THE SOUTH-west corner of France has been placed on a weather alert by Météo France, with storms forecast from 16.00 on Monday afternoon.
Eleven departments are affected by the orange alert - the whole Midi-Pyrénées region, plus the Landes, Lot-et-Garonne and Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
Stormy weather from Portugal and Spain will cross the Pyrenees, with heavy rain (up to 4cm per hour), possible hailstones, strong winds gusting up to 90kph and thunder and lightning.
The unsettled weather will reach the Toulouse region by early evening. Departments further north have been placed on yellow alert.
The warning applies until at least 6.00 on Tuesday morning.
