METEO France has issued a weather warning for almost 40 departments in the north and west of France, with torrential rain and thunder storms on Monday evening and throughout Tuesday.

Meanwhile, seven departments in the east remain on heatwave alert: the Allier, Saône-et-Loire, Ain, Rhône, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme and Isère.
