Supermarket fresh fish recalled across France over listeria fears
It involves haddock and herring sold at in-store fresh fish counters

A recall of herring and haddock products in France has been launched over concerns that eating the fish could lead to listeria food poisoning.
The smoked herring and haddock fillets subject to the recall were sold in supermarkets including Franprix, Super U, and Carrefour.
The herring was sold without a brand, wrapped in plastic in the fresh fish section, between January 23 and February 4.
The haddock was sold in the same section but under the ‘Mon p'tit poissonnier’ brand. It was also sold in other supermarkets including Intermarché, E.Leclerc, and some smaller stores. No sale dates have been given.
The haddock had the GTIN code 2298106000002, and included five different lots:

All products can be taken to the place of purchase for a recall before February 19.

Food poisoning fears
The products are being recalled due to fears over the presence of listeria, a bacteria that can cause listeriosis food poisoning.
Listeriosis is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, elderly people and the immuno-compromised, and is the second-biggest cause of food poisoning related deaths in France.
The effects of listeria food poisoning can appear as late as eight weeks after consuming an infected product, and can include headaches, fever, and body aches.
Anyone who has consumed the fish listed and is experiencing such symptoms should immediately contact their GP or another doctor.
