Supermarket sandwiches and wraps recalled in France over plastic fears
The items were sold in Système U, Cora and Leclerc stores. There is also an egg warning in place around Lyon

Several pre-made sandwiches and wraps sold at several French supermarkets have been recalled due to the possible presence of plastic in the items.
All five include chèvre (goat’s cheese) and were sold at Système U, Cora, and Leclerc stores between March 29 and March 31.
Consumers are being advised to check if they have bought any of the products and, if so, to avoid eating them and return for a refund.
Elsewhere, a health warning related to perfluoride pollution south of Lyon has led to recommendations not to eat eggs laid by hens in a number of nearby communes.
Presence of plastic
The items are being recalled over the potential presence of a “tough, blue” plastic inside the products.
The foreign object can present a risk not only when eating the product, but also to your digestive system after consumption.

The five products currently listed are as followed:

If you have ingested one of the products, the official advice is to contact a doctor.
The deadline for refunds is Saturday, April 15 for products purchased in Système U stores, Wednesday, April 19 for products purchased in Leclerc stores, and Monday, April 10 for products purchased in Cora stores.
For any further questions, two of the supermarkets have asked people to call their consumer helplines – for Enseigne U 09 69 36 69 36, and for Leclerc 0 800 865 286.
Pollutants cause egg fears in Lyon area
Health warnings over high levels of perfluoride pollution in the air close to Lyon have led to a number of recommendations for local residents; the latest of which is not to consume eggs laid in the area.
The warning is aimed at those who produce eggs for domestic use, in gardens or small farms, and not for national producers.
A number of communes are impacted by the warnings, located around the south of the city
The communes affected by the warnings are Brignais, Chaponost, Charly, Feyzin, Francheville, Irigny, La Mulatière, Lyon 7, Lyon 8, Oullins, Pierre-Bénite, Saint-Fons, Saint-Foy-lès Lyon, Saint-Genis-Laval, Solaize, Vernaison, Vourles.
Tests of eggs reveal that 26 out of 30 eggs sampled had pollutants above EU regulation levels and further tests are underway.
The pollutants in question (perfluoroalkylated and polyfluoroalkylated substances, or PFAS’s) are sometimes known as ‘eternal pollutants’ due to their longevity in the atmosphere.
