Tax exile actor back in Russia

Depardieu has flown back to Moscow to take up a free house and register an address on ‘Democratic Street’

TAX EXILE actor Gérard Depardieu is reported to be back in Russia to register his new address on “Democratic Street”.

Following his visit last month, when he collected a Russian passport, the Russian press says he has flown back to Moscow where he was set to stay just a day before heading to Saransk, capital of the Mordovia region where he has been offered a free house.

The gift by the regional council has reportedly been accepted – unlike the offer of the job of Culture Minister, which the council also offered to him.

The Russian press says the actor is going to the prefecture, where he will register his new address on his passport - on “Democratic Street”.

Last month Depardieu wrote of his wish to go back to the region, “to sit on the edge of a lake with fishing rod, catch a fish, walk in the birch forests. I love this tree. You find the poetry of Russia in it.”
