Star of the occasion was a camel with placards stating: Les enseignants bossent ["teachers work hard," bosse also means “hump”] and "children’s success should not be a mirage".
Turnout was low for a national protest and several other causes made up the number of marchers.
The union claims a government policy of not replacing one in two retirees has meant 50,000 job losses in education since 2007.
