The French Federation of Confined Sports launches
A new sports organisation has launched - the French Federation of Confined Sports – with eight sports already featured including frying-pan table tennis, corridor football and the sofa high jump.
The idea came from two enterprising sports marketing and brand agencies as a novel solution to lockdown exercise.
Paris-based La Fourmi and Leroy Tremblot have adapted popular sporting activities and given them a quirky twist for the home and using the power of social media platform Instagram to promote them for the Fédération Francaise de Sports Confines.
The founders have also paid homage to Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games, with its motto ‘Slower, lower but just as strong’.
Each sport has an Instagram post that explains the rules, an image of the equipment required – like a broom and mug for indoor golf – and a demonstration of how to play.
The tongue-in-cheek Instagram feed has already secured more than 1,000 followers since its launch.
Its founders proclaimed, on the first post:
“Yes, we're confined athletes. We have no choice, but since we have a duty to stay home, let's not sit around and do nothing.”
