Three pairs of balls for Hollande
Young ecologists attack president for not having courage – with poster highlighting what he lacks
A YOUNG ecologist party group has had to withdraw a planned poster attacking President Hollande – as it offers him a present of “a pair of balls”.
The poster from the Jeunes Écologistes d'Ile-de-France was launched after the government’s postponement of the planned ecotax on freight lorries – and hastily pulled just an hour later.
First shown on the group’s Facebook page, the poster shows three pairs of testicles; which the group says Mr Hollande is lacking.
The first paire de coquilles is to give him courage for the fight for equal marriage rights, the second, slightly larger, pair for the continuing battle with employers group Medef and the third, the biggest, to “keep his promises”.
However, the poster was attacked online with some saying it was “sexist” and it was withdrawn soon afterwards. The political website Politis had time to get a screengrab before it vanished – and lambasted it, calling it “moche, sexiste, vulgaire, irrespectueux et... même pas drôle” – “ugly, sexist, vulgar, disrespectful and ... not even funny”.
Lucas Nédélec, the national coordinator for the Jeunes Écologistes, said on its website that “many militants were infuriated, it’s a sexist graphic”.
Ecologists are angry at the government’s lack of action on environmental proposals, with the ecotax coming after the failure to target diesel in the 2014 budget and the lack of action on switching to renewable energy supply.
