Toddler flees home and walks a mile
'Resourceful' 22-month-old boy decides to stretch his legs while father slept, walking 1.5km along busy road
A "RESOURCEFUL" toddler in the Var fled the family home and managed to walk a mile along a busy road before he was stopped by police.
The 22-month-old boy decided to stretch his legs and left the house in Six-Fours-les-Plages, near Toulon, on Saturday evening while his father slept.
He walked along a main road through an industrial estate for 1.5km, eventually reaching the neighbouring town of La-Seyne-sur-Mer.
A driver and a motorcyclist alerted police, who picked him up and took care of him until the father called five hours later to report his son missing.
The boy's parents told Var-Matin that they were "not astonished", as their child was "very resourceful, can get over obstacles and has been walking since he was 10 months old".
