Tram passenger forgets €35,000
Plastic bag full of banknotes went unnoticed for two hours on Bordeaux tram before unidentified passenger picked it up
A BORDEAUX woman who accidentally left €35,000 in a plastic bag on a tram has been cautioned for wasting police time.
The 57-year-old pretended she had been mugged by four Bulgarian passengers and said she would recognise their faces if she saw them again.
But when police obtained the CCTV footage from the tram, they found the woman was alone in the carriage - and had simply forgotten to pick up the bag.
According to Sud Ouest, a fast-forward of the video shows the money went unnoticed for two hours before an unindentified man picked it up and made off with it.
The €35,000 came from the sale of a bar last summer. The buyer had paid in cash and the woman was looking after the banknotes on a friend's behalf.
