Tuesday strike on Paris RER network

Disruptions to RER A and B will affect airport users, visitors to Paris Air Show and Fête de la Musique revellers

PUBLIC transport users in Paris face a day of disruption tomorrow on parts of the RER network because of a strike by drivers.

The two main lines crossing the capital - RER A and B - will be running a reduced service on Tuesday, June 21 on the sections operated by the RATP.

Passengers travelling to Charles de Gaulle airport should allow extra time to reach the terminal and those using Orly airport should consider alternative routes.

The strike will also affect visitors to the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, and coincides with the Fête de la Musique.

RER B will be the worst-affected, running half of trains through the centre of Paris during the morning and evening rush hours only.

Passengers using Orly airport can take the bus or RER C instead.

The line from the Gare du Nord to Charles de Gaulle airport and Le Bourget should be operating a near-normal service because it is run by the SNCF, not the RATP. However, passengers will have to change trains and platforms at the Gare du Nord, because no through trains are running.

The RATP estimates that three quarters of trains will run on RER A, which runs from west to east, serving La Défense, central Paris and Disneyland.

The rest of Paris's metro, tram, train and bus network will be running as normal - with extra services between midnight and 5am on Wednesday morning for partygoers heading home from the Fête de la Musique.
