Tunnel delays on Sunday after fire
Eurostar and Eurotunnel services resume, but only one tunnel is in use, meaning longer journey times
EUROTUNNEL and Eurostar services are running again today, but with likely delays, as one Channel tunnel remains closed following a fire on Saturday.
Eurostar says anyone with a ticket to travel on Sunday should turn up and check-in at the normal time, although their journey might take longer than usual.
Anyone who was due to travel on Saturday and has not already exchanged their ticket should not try to get on a train today, Eurostar says. Instead they can swap on to a later train at no extra cost or obtain a refund.
With Channel Tunnel journeys lasting 20 minutes, and only one tunnel in use, capacity will be severely limited. Eurotunnel car and freight services are also resuming, with the same delays and restrictions.
The cause of the north tunnel closure was a lorry fire that occurred yesterday lunchtime. Passengers on the affected train were evacuated and no one was injured.
