TV or not TV on satellite

John PUGH, by email

WE had a Humax Freesat box professionally installed at our second home near Deauville and until last autumn had no problems in receiving both TV and radio stations.

Recently we have lost certain TV stations and all of the BBC radio stations.

Freesat says the original satellite was replaced and the beam reduced to cover the UK more intensely, possibly related to licensing problems within Europe.

Now that analogue TVs are obsolete we face very shortterm updating of digital services and there appears to have been little or no publicity on the subject. Have other expats had the same problem? So much for common standards.
