Two lion cubs left at wildlife park

STAFF at a wildlife park in Seine-et-Marne had a shock when they arrived at work yesterday morning to find two abandoned lion cubs waiting for them at the front door.

The six-month-old male cubs had been dumped outside the Parc des félins de Nesles in Lumigny-Nesles-Ormeaux.

Staff at the breeding and conservation centre which is predominantly devoted to the cat family said that the animals were in good health but had been quarantined for two weeks of tests.

The centre said that it would keep the animals for two weeks to allow their owners to come forward - but it is thought the young lions were dumped after becoming too much of a handful for their owners, who probably kept them illegally.

The Parc des Felins is the only breeding and conservation centre of its kind in the world and cares for 140 animals from across the world.
