Two-way speed cams set for trial
Following the success of mobile radar in unmarked police vehicles, now two-way speed cameras are to be tested in France
NEW TWO-WAY fixed speed cameras are set to be trialled in France this year, it has been revealed.
Four two-way devices, which will photograph the front and rear registration plates of speeding cars, will be tested, Henri Prevost, of the Interministerial Delegation for Road Safety (DISR), told Le Parisien / Today.
“The goal,” he said, “is to reduce the number of ‘flashes’ that do not result in tickets because the photograph is unclear.”
In an interview with Parisien / Today, Mr Prevost went on to describe mobile radar mounted in unmarked police cars, which caught out 300,000 drivers in their first year of operation, as “a powerful tool” that encourages drivers to comply with the rules of the road.
