UK arrivals now only fully vaccinated who must quarantine in France

With the removal of the last scarlet list countries people coming from the UK are also now the only vaccinated people who must give an essential reason to come

People coming from the UK are now the only fully vaccinated travellers required to carry out an obligatory quarantine period after coming to France.

It comes as France has removed the last countries from its ‘scarlet’ list of those most seriously affected by Covid-19 and subject to the strongest restrictions on entry.

Those coming from (now non-existent) scarlet countries are obliged to self-isolate for ten days whether or not they are vaccinated.

People coming from the UK are also, currently, all obliged to quarantine for 10 days, though this may be cut short if a Covid test taken at least 48 hours after arrival is negative.

They must register for a prefecture decree before coming to France, which refers to fines of up to €1,300 for failing to comply.

Obligatory quarantine does not apply to any other fully vaccinated travellers, as there is no self-isolation requirement for vaccinated people from red list countries, currently the most restricted category.

UK arrivals are now also the only vaccinated people to be obliged to give an essential reasons to come.

We note, however, that the rules for the UK may be set to change soon. Government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on Wednesday that at the next meeting of the Conseil de défense sanitaire ministers would consider lifting border restrictions with the UK.

The only other travellers currently obliged to self-isolate are unvaccinated people from red list countries, such as the US and South Africa. Fully vaccinated people from red list countries do not have to self-isolate.

Unvaccinated people coming from orange list countries such as Morocco or Canada are asked to voluntarily self-isolate for seven days.
