Was expat killed in row over veg?
Police are taking seriously the possibility that an argument over the theft of vegetables ended up in David King's death
MYSTERY still surrounds the exact circumstances of the death of expat David King whose body was found in a neighbour’s well – but one theory is it was due to an argument over the theft of vegetables.
A 28-year-old neighbour who had been living in the village, Pierres in Calvados, for a year, was questioned and remanded in custody after Mr King’s body was found on April 8.
Public prosecutor Carole Etienne, in charge of the case, has said the suspect remained vague under questioning, claiming to have no recollection of exactly what happened, however she told Le Parisien that “among the scraps of explanation we got from the suspect was a suggestion of an argument following the theft of food”.
The paper also spoke to neighbours who alleged that vegetables had been disappearing from gardens in the area since the suspect - a Frenchman who previously lived in the Paris area - moved in.
Mr King is known to have been a keen gardener who grew his own vegetables.
