Weather warning on western coast
Météo France warns of high tides and winds of up to 110kph along the Atlantic coast until Wednesday morning
RESIDENTS along the Atlantic coast of France face two days of storms, fierce winds and possible flooding, Météo France has warned.
The weather forecaster has issued an alert for the full stretch of coastline from Brittany down to the Spanish border.
It is expecting winds of up to 110kph until midday tomorrow in Brittany and 9.00 on Wednesday elsewhere, as the poor weather conditions move south through the Charente, Aquitaine and Landes.
Some localised flooding is likely because of the high tides. The Gironde préfecture has also warned of possible floods where the Garonne and Dordogne rivers converge, north of Bordeaux.
Météo France says walkers should stay away from the water edge and all sea-users should be extremely vigilant.
A kite-surfer died yesterday in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on the Pyrénées-Atlantiques coast after he was swept away by strong winds and collided into a block of flats.
