MORE than 100,000 lost pets have been reconnected with their owners thanks to a website.
Pet Alert France has published its figures and success rates ahead of the International Day of Animals on October 4.
Pet Alert founder Julien Muller said: “Today we’re proud to communicate strong and positive figures. We demonstrate that social networks can serve good causes and help families to quickly recover their pets.”
The Pet Alert site was set up in August 2012 and has subsequently helped to find 100,000 cats and dogs - with a 75% success rate.
More than 650,000 people people are signed up to the service. Each department has its own page where members can post up missing or found animals for free, but pay for additional options.
