Why Corsica is top car plate choice
Many motorists believe the Corsican logo signifies “power” and “strength”, according to a report
THIS is not just a car registration plate… this is a Corsican car registration plate.
And, according to a report in Le Figaro, many motorists believe the Corsican symbol signifies “power” and “strength”.
The newspaper has reported that the 2A and 2B registration plates, bearing the famous Moor’s head logo, are among the most popular across the whole of France, according to both parts supplier Norauto and number plate manufacturer Faab-Fabricauto.
It says the Corsican phenomenon is an unintended consequence of 2009’s reform of the vehicle registration system in France, which allowed users to select the department number of their choice.
One parts dealer in Paris said that an “unwritten code” exists among many motorists.
He said: “With a 2A or 2B plate, drivers are convinced that they will not be bothered on the roads.
“The Corsican plate tells other motorists that the vehicle’s driver will not be bullied and is quick to act.”
