Why so difficult to start business?
The self-assessment tax in the UK was simple - why is the French one not that way?
I started up an equestrian business nearly a year ago, having previously spent two and a half years fighting the system in order to obtain a French qualification.
Without it, I did not have the right to teach, despite having British Horse Society qualifications and 30 years in the industry.
I chose the auto-entrepreneur system, whereby I pay tax only if I earn anything.
However, what I am not allowed to do is offset my expenses, which are very high, when it comes to keeping horses, against what I earn.
The self-assessment tax in the UK was simple, and using that system, I merely deducted my outgoings from my earnings, and paid tax on the remainder.
Pity the system is not the same here.
