Young prince rules in French outfit
Stylish dungarees worn by royal trendsetter Prince George snapped up after official photo released
PRINCE George will blow out his first birthday candle at a low-key celebration tomorrow - but anyone hoping to dress their favourite toddler in the same French outfit may have to wait a while.
The official portrait of the young prince, which showed him putting his best foot forward at the Sensational Butterflies outdoor exhibition at London’s Natural History Museum earlier this month, prompted a huge surge in demand for the blue-and-white striped dungarees, made by French firm Petit Bateau.
L’Express has reported that the company has sold out of the trousers, which resale at €43 a pair.
They are similar to a red pair he wore on Father’s Day, when he joined his mum and dad a polo match.
It’s not unusual for clothes worn by the young prince to sell out shortly after he has been seen in them.
The dungarees he wore at a playdate in New Zealand sold out of all sizes within a few hours, it was reported at the time, while an English shoe company was overwhelmed with demand after the Prince was snapped in a pair of its 'prewalkers'.
The company had to suspend online sales until further notice.
A few days before the photograph was released, the Duke of Cambridge revealed that his son was “charging around and opening doors”.
Prince George’s great-grandmother will be the guest of honour at a simple party at Kensington Palace tomorrow.
