Can I go to the airport in France during curfew hours?

Reader question: I have a plane to catch on December 22 that departs from Paris at 23:00. Can I leave my home after 20:00 to go to the airport?

Short answer: Yes, if you have filled out an exemption form.

From December 15, lockdown will end and inter-regional and international travel will again be allowed.

If you have to catch a train or a plane after 20:00, you will have to fill out an exemption form (attestation de déplacement), which will soon be available on the government’s website. You will also need to keep a copy of your travel ticket with you with the date and time of your trip marked on it to use as proof.

In October, when France first introduced curfew measures, the corresponding exemption form had the option: "Déplacements liés à des transits pour des déplacements de longues distances". You should tick this if the forms remain the same.

This rule will also apply to any late-night buses.

France’s rail company SNCF has confirmed that all its trains will be running normally from December 15, throughout the whole festive period.

The company has stated that “in accordance with government announcements, passengers with a reservation for a long-distance train running after 20:00 will be able to travel and do not need to change their journey".
